Welcome Back to Pine Grove
How quickly can a heart break?
In seconds.
How fast can a bullet kill your best friend?
In the blink of an eye.
How long does it take to end forever?
In four words.
Cody Ponds is a down on his luck firefighting lumberjack just trying to get through each day after his wife asks for a divorce. He should’ve seen it coming, should’ve known that after five years in a deep depression over the loss of his best friend that she wouldn’t be able to cope with his sadness forever. But when hell comes knocking on his door one afternoon in the form of a tiny Italian woman, Cody realizes that maybe he has a chance at saving his marriage after all.
June doesn’t need to be saved. She’s been rescuing herself and everyone around her for the last five years. Ever since her sister’s husband tragically died, June feels like she’s barely keeping her head above the water for her family. She doesn’t know who she is anymore. She doesn’t have friends outside her sisters and her sidekick. She doesn’t have hobbies. She has a job she likes but doesn’t love, her sons that take every waking moment, and a husband who is practically a shell.
But when Cody makes the decision that he’s not done with June or their life together by offering a six week trial period before they officially call it quits, she quickly comes to realize that life doesn’t have to feel so heavy, and maybe, just maybe, the Cody she’s always loved is still there. Begin Again is the story of second chances, forging new paths and new identities despite roadblocks, and how the ripples of grief can strengthen the bonds of love.
